Philosophy

Byredo is a Stockholm-based fragrance company founded in 2006 by Ben Gorham.

The product range includes perfumes, body care, air freshener and accessories; all products are distinguished by the craftsmanship and the quality.

Ben Gorham was born in Sweden to Indian mother and a Canadian father; he grew up in Toronto, New York and Stockholm and after graduating at School of Art in Stockholm he accidentally meets an important perfumer, Pierre Wulff, who convinces him to create fragrances instead of paintings.

So, without any training in the business of olfactory, Gorham became a world-renowned perfumer at the age of thirty-one years old.

As an outsider in the beauty industry, Ben is a bit an anomaly even if he has been recognized for his personal style and taste because his essences connect with the world of fashion and art.

Byredo comes out on the international magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Elle and V Magazine.

Maternal tales of a scented India emerge in each fragrances, through warm, sensual and spicy notes that meets fresh and resinous scents, typical of the Nordic countries.

Fragrance has a minimal and refined packaging, dominated by white and black lettering, clearly influenced by design and a touch of Swedish linearity.

Olivia Giacobetti and Jerome Epinette are the perfumers who work mainly in the creation of unisex fragrances.

Gorham creates fragrances according feelings, scents or places: In Palermo he was charmed by the women’s smell, while in Paris he was amazed by the African community.

Ben Gorham develops simple formulas and avoids the notes which may clash, in fact, he prefers to use unknown wood.

Fragrances are created with a selected number of raw materials, telling a real story; "Oud Immortel" tells about the oldest incenses in the world, while "La Tulipe"  evokes fresh and floral spring.

Each fragrance is designed to satisfy the tastes of lovers of  niche perfumes; the brand is distributed in exclusive boutiques such as Liberty in London and Barneys in US.
