Philosophy
Balenciaga is an esteemed French clothing and luxury accessories fashion house.
Its creator is the famous Spanish designer Cristobal Balenciaga.
Today the company is part of Gucci Group and it is lead by the creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.
Spanish designer was born in 1895; he grown up among fashion and fabrics and opened his fashion house in France in 1937.
He reached the international fame during the '50’s and '60’s, renewing the “empire” dress and he reached a worldwide popularity after II World War.
He retirement is due to the increasing importance of ready to wear in fashion industry.
Balenciaga died in 1972: he was the source of inspiration for a new generation of designers as Oscar de la Renta, André Courrèges, Emanuel Ungaro, Hubert de Givenchy.
Nicolas Ghesquière made his debut at Balenciaga in 1997 showing a stylish and comfortable line, characterized by a wide range of fabrics in a triumph of chic and glam satin drapes, printed silk, velvet or dévoré.
The maison creates skirts, blazers and satin dresses, worn with boots, laced to ankles with scarves and big metal bracelets.
Since 2001 the brand Balenciaga is part of Gucci Group and has its headquarters in rue du Cherche Midi, Paris.
