Philosophy
Rachel Comey is an American brand of clothing and accessories for women and for men, based in New York; the homonymous designer, originally from Hartford, Connecticut, after graduating in Art and Sculpture at the University of Vermont, moved to New York in 1998 to pursue new goals and in September 2001, she launched her first clothing collection.
The successfull collection, proved the Rachel Comey’s talent who begins to develop a following of loyal customers and fans.
Her collections, which have become known to the press, feature graceful modern shapes, hand-made processes, and carefully selected materials.
Innovative textures and luxurious fabrics add depth to silhouette, and the edgy details are inspired by the bustling metropolises.
The vintage inspired collections present rock-and-roll and tattoo details, making her garment more and more popular among the NY socialite.
The label, in fact, has gained popularity after David Bowie wore a Rachel Comey shirt, consecrating the brand.
Rachel Comey’s fashion is androgynous, sometime too masculine, connected to the 70’s and 80’s styles.
Leather loafers, high waisted baggy trousers, leather patchwork bomber jacket, blouse, but also faded denim, knitted sweaters and coats with fur necks; these androgynous designs are embellished by flowery print and geometric patterns.
Mens and unisex accessories extend the collections: 80’s glasses, leather gloves, leather shopping bags and clutches, round toe boots, high heels Mary-Janes, soft maxi-bags.
Soft and flared shapes are proposed in several colours such as white, black, tangerine, grey, taupe, burgundy and anthracite.
