Philosophy
Proenza Schouler is an US clothing and accessories brand for women.
It was founded by the creative duo Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough and it made its debut in 2003 during NY fashion week.
The brand took the name of mother’s designers.
They met each other at New York Parsons School of Design in 1999; they become friends and thanks to a common vision of fashion and style they started their business.
They also collaborate to degree thesis, creating a "capsule collection" of essential items, which rouses the interest of Julie Gilhart, sales manager at Barney’s.
In 2008, fashion designers launched "PS1" shoulder bags collections made of fine leather, suede and python, which become a brand icon and popular among celebrities.
In the same year Sarah Jessica Parker wears a pair of PS sandals in the "Sex and the City" series, confirming the brand immediate success.
Designers add their natural talent to refined tailoring skills, technology and a contemporary touch of metropolitan-chic style, designing an easy and couture fashion, with lots of cult accessories such as sandals, maxi bags and clutches.
Sexy collections are inspired by Pop Art, Donald Judd artworks, travels, but also from the 80’s, 40’s, and classic American sportswear.
Even the smallest details such as stitching, a fold or embroideries, defines garments shape.
Volumes, asymmetrical cuts and nude-effect dominate on dresses, mini dresses, LBD, jackets, coats, shorts and top, enriched with embroideries, prints, checked patterns and horizontal stripes.
