Philosophy
Lacoste is a brand of sportswear for men, women and children.
It was founded in 1933 by French tennis champion, René Lacoste, and André Gillier, the owner of the largest French knitwear company.
They give life to a company producing garments for tennis, golf and outdoor sports, with the crocodile logo; René creates for himself a series of polo shirts which become a must-have among tennis players.
The crocodile first appeared several years after the creation of the brand; the press coined the René nickname “Crocodile” after the bet with the Captain of the French team of Davis Cup.
Robert George drawn the famous logo and Lacoste put it on his game blazers.
The designer becomes famous worldwide for revolutionizing men's fashion, replacing on the tennis courts the classic long-sleeved shirt, with the famous comfortable and breathable cotton polo shirts.
“L. 12.12” is the first Lacoste design, following, during the years, it created lightweight cotton pique shirts, which combine the concept of polo and t-shirt.
The “vintage” stretch proposals are renewed seasonally; long sleeves, multicolor striped, declined in a wide range of colours.
Company has expanded its range of proposals offering sporty total looks, for men and women, knitwear, shirts, footwear, dresses, trousers, shorts, outerwear, leather goods and accessories.
Lacoste plays a simple and elegant style, according with the evolution of fashion and taste.
