Philosophy
Barena is a young Italian menswear brand characterized by a bucolic allure and a natural elegance, strongly linked to the Venetian tradition.
The company, run by the Zara family, also produces the brand Tabarrificio Veneto, which represent an unique example of "Italian ethnic", redesigning simple, traditional lagoon fabrics, next to the innovative materials.
Unique items, unearthed in museums or books, are redesigned and produced with new techniques.
The designer Sandro Zara started his career in 1961, following the passion for local costume and the Venice history, from which comes the brand’s name; the Barena is the area between the mainland and the lagoon.
Collections propose a functional class, as the clothes worn by Venetian gentlemen, with a traditional soul but refined at the same time; trousers of Chioggia fishermen, four pocket jackets of Caneva carpenters, a mix of flax and hemp, today unlined and strapless.
From fishermen's knitwear to worker jackets which ensure freedom of movement, garments are made of the finest cashmere, wool, and linen, strictly Made in Italy.
Workwear garments emphasize the traditional elements such as patched elbow, fabrics and colours in contrast in the undercollar, sharp cut finishes and comfortable fits.
